Andres Sarda embodies the sensuality and Mediterranean magic of the city of Barcelona where the Sardá family started in business in the 19th century making lace mantillas. Jackie Kennedy was photographed wearing one for the cover of Life Magazine when she visited the Vatican in the 1960s.
In 1962 the family moved into the lingerie business, breaking with convention and challenging stereotypes in the conservative political climate of the time. Swimwear followed in the 1970s, memorably photographed by the famous British photographer David Hamilton.
Today the brand is owned by multinational lingerie group Van de Velde and retains its daring, risqué creative edge in Barcelona under the supervision of Andres’s daughter Núria Sardá. The brand has been worn by numerous international artists including Penélope Cruz, Lady Gaga, Mónica Bellucci and Shakira.
