Founded with the aim of creating a natural, fashionable look for curvaceous women, technical innovation has been a defining characteristic of the award-winning Empreinte brand since its earliest days.
The company was started by Jean Le Her in the French town of Brest in 1946. Monsieur Le Her started off making corsets and shapewear but, inspired by the technical challenge of making comfortable bras at a time the post-war American fashion was for high, pointed busts, he and his designers rose to the technical challenge, creating their own more generous cup size.
Later in the 1960s Empreinte used lycra to create lighter underwear for a more natural look. In the 1980s the company launched its range of swimwear encouraged by the confident femininity of the period.
Over the decades, Empreinte has expanded its presence beyond France to establish itself as a premium international brand, constantly reinventing itself to give women the freedom to express themselves and their bodies.
